Virginia Tech's Student Achievement Measures

Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State Institution (Virginia Tech) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, educational specialist, and doctorate degrees. Virginia Tech also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Questions about the accreditation of Virginia Tech may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, by calling (404) 679-4500, or by using information available on SACSCOC’s website (www.sacscoc.org).

In June 2014, the SACSCOC Board of Trustees approved a policy statement on "Institutional Obligations for Public Disclosure." The policy requires that an institution accredited by SACSCOC publish "statements of its goals for student achievement and the success of students in achieving those goals." Virginia Tech has a strong history of evaluating the achievement of its students in relation to its mission. The university monitors achievement of students through the Institutional Performance Standards developed by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), and through the university’s long-range strategic plan scorecard. Information on these measures can be found on Virginia Tech's Office of Analytics & Institutional Effectiveness (AIE)'s Student Achievement Measures Disclosure page.
